We recognise our responsibility to the environment and the growing importance of environmental, energy and sustainability management. We have been DIN EN ISO 14001:2015 certified for our environmental management since 2003. This was followed in 2017 by certification to DIN EN ISO 50001:2018 for our internal energy management. But our commitment is not just about certification - it is also about achieving our own high environmental and energy targets through our action plans. That's why we're constantly working to improve by implementing a wide range of ideas, projects and measures.
For us, protecting the climate and the environment is more than just an obligation - it is a matter of the heart and a matter of course for us and the entire BIKAR family. The use of modern technology enables us to work in a resource-efficient way. Effective use of raw materials, efficient transport routes and sustainable recycling solutions protect nature and the climate - and keep prices down.
Aluminium and bronze, in particular, are almost 100% recyclable - and can be recycled as often as required. We use and promote this property by connecting all our machines (band saws, circular saws, ring saws, milling machines, drills) to extraction systems. This allows us to cleanly press the chips into pellets, separated by alloy. These pellets are returned to the raw material cycle via the mills.
In order to present our extensive sustainability activities in a transparent manner, we have participated in the EcoVadis assessment. This is in recognition of the growing importance of this issue, not least for our customers, our supply chain and legislators. EcoVadis is an international standard for assessing sustainability activities. The rating covers a wide range of non-financial management systems, including environmental, labour and human rights impacts, ethics and sustainable procurement. The EcoVadis methodology uses ratings and scorecards to show how well a company has integrated sustainability/CSR principles into its business and management system. The methodology is based on international sustainability standards, including the Global Reporting Initiative, the United Nations Global Compact and ISO 26000, covering over 200 spending categories and more than 160 countries.
