The competition was organised by the Rotary Club Berleburg-Laasphe, which uses the proceeds to support social projects in the region. A total of 6,000 golden eggs – handmade sweet treats created by Bad Berleburg master confectioner Carsten Wahl – were numbered and sold. That two of the three grand prizes went to employees of the BIKAR Group is a double stroke of luck for the internationally active family-owned company headquartered in Wittgenstein.
As it did last year, BIKAR gave one of the golden eggs with a lucky code as a small Easter gift to each of its more than 900 employees worldwide. The surprise: both the first and third prizes ended up at BIKAR. “I was absolutely stunned when I got the news – you never expect to win something like that,” says Johannes Haucke. “But it’s just typical BIKAR – there are always initiatives and surprises that show how much the company values its employees. That really makes a difference!”
Jan Saßmannshausen, Chief Marketing Officer at BIKAR and the person responsible for distributing the golden eggs within the company, is equally delighted with the double stroke of luck: “Our warmest congratulations to Johannes and Katrin – what a fantastic result! We’re absolutely thrilled that two of the three prizes went to members of our team. It was a wonderful surprise for everyone.”
Appreciation is part of BIKAR’s DNA
At BIKAR, personal attention, team spirit, and a strong culture of recognition are second nature. In addition to traditional HR development, the company consistently implements creative initiatives: €50 per month tax-free on the BIKAR Card, after-work get-togethers, yoga classes, free health checks, birthday surprises, family events, sports activities, or spontaneous little gifts – at BIKAR, these aren’t considered “extras”, but integral to the company culture.
“We believe that a culture of appreciation not only improves the working atmosphere but also makes the company more successful – because people who feel seen and heard are simply more motivated to make things happen,” says Saßmannshausen. For Johannes Haucke and Katrin Müller, the golden egg turned out to be far more than just a nice Easter gesture – it was a golden path to a prize they won’t forget any time soon.
