FAQ about our alloys

The result of the fusion of at least two elements is referred to as an alloy. An alloy is a metallic material, whereby the behavior and properties of the material depend on the type and number of alloy partners, their mass fraction and the temperature. The chemical composition thus determines the advantages and disadvantages of the material for different applications. There are different types of alloys, such as ferrous alloys, non-ferrous alloys, cast alloys or wrought alloys.

BIKAR offers its customers a wide range of aerospace aluminum alloys. Due to its low density and high strength, aluminium is an ideal material for aviation. Specially developed alloys optimise these properties. These include, for example, sheets, plates and rods in alloys such as 2024, 2124, 2618A, 6061, 7010, 7040, 7050, 7075, 7175, 7475. In addition to aviation, they are also of interest for safety-relevant components.

Aluminium alloys are standardized in various EN standards, depending on their specific applications and properties. EN AW stands for "European Norm Aluminum Wrought". It is a designation used in European standardization to identify aluminium alloys that are processed as semi-finished products (e.g. plates, bars, profiles). This designation helps to clearly define the composition and mechanical properties of aluminum alloys.

With FORMODAL®, we exclusively offer aluminium casting alloys that have different mechanical properties thanks to special thermal homogenisation processes. Depending on the application, different alloys such as EN AW-5083, EN AW-1050A or EN AW-7021 provide the ideal basis for these materials.
